An obviously important person sits on a cylindrical pedestal, surrounded and guarded by soldiers. Instead of reclining on a throne-like cube, the man is surrounded by three rams, which suggests that the bronze sculpture depicts an enthronement ceremony. He holds a sphere and has ritual vessels in front of him. To his left and right are four soldiers who appear to be indigenous but are wearing Portuguese helmets and carrying muskets at the ready. Behind him are three more people, each carrying a vessel, a plant and a transverse horn.
Twenty-one figures are depicted around the cylinder at the bottom, all of whom are engaged in military activities. As some of the objects here are already broken off and the group depiction as a whole is in a somewhat decayed condition, I will expand on the depiction and description during the restoration. A broken arm of the main figure and a broken hand holding something resembling a bow can only be soldered back on after thorough examination, as heating the object could affect any subsequent checks.
Due to the wealth of stories depicted and the historical references, this object should be scientifically examined in a museum setting. However, I am unaware of who could undertake this task. Therefore, I will undertake the restoration myself and attempt to interpret as much as possible over the course of the coming year.
